ESL Pro League Season 16 groups announced

The second Pro League competition of the year, ESL Pro League Season 16, will run from August 31 to October 2 as an international LAN event with the official location yet to be confirmed.

The tournament will once again feature 24 teams including the top 15 squads in the world according to HLTV’s world rankings, with Heroic competing as a partner team for the first time after having previously signed the Louvre Agreement with organizers ESL.

FaZe head into EPL as the defending champions

Group A features four top-15 teams in Natus Vincere, NIP, Vitality, and Spirit all vying for a spot in the playoffs as their group will be in action from August 31-September 4. Group B will be competing next from September 7-11, showcasing the world’s best team FaZe and other established competitors such as G2 and BIG.

Group C will have the two best Danish teams Astralis and Heroic, along with EPL Season 15 runners-up ENCE battling it out from September 14-18. Finally, Group D will play out from September 21-25, where the likes of Liquid and Cloud9 will be gunning for a spot in the following round.

After the group stage concludes, the second and third-best teams of each will play against one another in the round of 12, before moving on to the quarter-finals where the top team of each of the four groups await them. From there, the winners will move on to the semi-finals and eventually, the best-of-five grand final to crown the champion of the 16th Pro League season.
