Eternal Fire overcome MOUZ to advance to Roobet Cup playoffs

Eternal Fire are through to the playoffs of the Roobet Cup after they managed to prevail in a three-map series against MOUZ, reverse-sweeping the match to earn a spot in the bracket stage where they will go up against BIG on Monday at 19:00 .

It took a monumental effort for Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş‘ side to fight back after they started the series off on the wrong foot, losing their own pick of Nuke 2-16 after they were unable to mount much of an offense at all. However, they responded in kind on Mirage with a strong CT effort of their own before eventually closing things out, and Inferno played out much the same as Özgür “woxic” Eker proved to be a shining beacon for them on the defense, helping eventually net a 16-13 win to close out the series.

woxic ended Inferno with a 32-15 K-D

Nuke was a completely one-sided affair from start to finish, early multi-kills from Aurimas “Bymas” Pipiras helping his side to an early lead before Christopher “dexter” Nong and Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás combined to keep control firmly in MOUZ‘s favor. Eternal Fire were unable to crack through the international team’s defenses as they recorded a 13-2 lead at halftime, and little time was wasted by MOUZ in closing things out in the second half following a pistol victory, winning the final three rounds straight. Ömer “imoRR” Karataş in particular struggled immensely, tying his career-lowest rating of 0.19 that he recorded against MOUZ in 2019.

MOUZ ended up on the receiving end of a similar treatment on Mirage, a stellar defensive effort from Eternal Fire consistently putting a halt to entry attempts in bombsites as they cruised to an 11-4 lead at halftime. That edge was extended to 13-5 following the break, but it was then that MOUZ began a comeback effort, bringing things all the way back to 14-12 before Eternal Fire finally managed to prevail, finding entry into the B bombsite for match point before securing victory in the following round.

Another solid CT start for Eternal Fire had them pulled ahead early on in the Inferno decider, woxic in particular stepping up with the AWP as he repeatedly shut down MOUZ‘s entry attempts. dexter‘s side kept the scoreline close thanks to key rounds from torzsi and Bymas, but they were still left trailing by one round as the sides swapped over.

Another three rounds off the break kept Eternal Fire in the lead, 11-7, but again MOUZ came alive and made an effort to fight back, winning four in a row to tie up the match. woxic‘s best efforts seemed to be in vain as the teams battled back and forth, but XANTARES stepped up alongside him to grant the Turkish team match point, with the rifler also finding two key entry kills with a hero AK on round 29 to net his team victory in the end.
