Evil Geniuses force a three way tiebreaker in the NA DPC with a win over Quincy Crew

Evil Geniuses defeated Quincy Crew 2-0 to keep their hopes of qualifying for the PGL Arlington Major alive by taking the NA DPC into a three way tiebreaker.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going”, is a pretty popular saying, and it applies to every faction of life, including esports. That is exactly what Evil Geniuses showed the Dota 2 community as they took down an undefeated Quincy Crew 2-0 when they most needed it, to keep alive the hopes of competing in their home DPC Major, the Arlington Major in Texas, USA.

Even though Evil Geniuses were 5-1 heading into their series with Quincy Crew in Division I of the NA DPC League, they faced the very real possibility of failing to qualify for the PGL Arlington Major. EG lost their opening series of DPC Tour 3 to nouns, who were the surprise package of the season, ending with a score of 6-1. Had EG lost to QC, they would end up with a score of 5-2, which would put them below QC and nouns. But EG came prepared.

Evil GeniusesvsQuincy Crew

Game 1 was a complete beatdown in EG’s favor, ending with a score of 18-3 in just under 29 minutes. Quincy Crew went for a bit of an unorthodox position 5 Sven, and it didn’t really pay off. Quincy Crew were never in the game.

Game 2 was the complete opposite! It was a nailbiter till the very end, and could have gone either ways. Quincy Crew actually had a 9000 net worth lead just minutes before the game, but EG were able to pull off the clutch play of finding the Zeus in the trees and take him down. He didn’t have buyback, and that’s where the EG saw the window to take down the throne. Quincy Crew hadn’t dropped a single game going into this series, but just could not match Evil Geniuses on the day.

As the table stands now, Quincy Crew, nouns and Evil Geniuses are all tied with a score of 6-1. There will be two sets of tiebreakers for the NA DPC – one to decide which two out of three teams go to the Arlington Major, and the seconds to decide which two out of three teams are relegated to Division II. The only thing certain, is that Tour 3 of the NA DPC League will have a dramatic ending!
