Fantasy Football Players to Add Week 4

Having a good fantasy draft sets a team up really well, but most of the time to win a fantasy football league, acquisitions need to be made during the season. Each week there are several players worth exploring on the waiver wire. Here are fantasy football players to add week 4. (Note: These are best used for standard scoring leagues. All players are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues)

1. Khalil Herbert, RB, Chicago Bears

David Montgomery had to leave the game in week 3 with knee and ankle injuries, but he is listed at just day to day. Herbert stepped into the lineup and delivered with 20 carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns. He also had two receptions for 12 yards.

It is worth keeping an eye on Montgomery’s injury, but either way Herbert is worth adding. He is the fifth-ranked running back this season in standard scoring formats and has likely earned an increased role. It could be argued that he fits the Bears’ system better than Montgomery as well. Herbert is rostered in just 25.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

2. Alexander Mattison, RB, Minnesota Vikings

Dalvin Cook had a shoulder injury in week 3 and Mattison was inserted into the lineup. In relief, Mattison had six carries for 24 yards and also had one reception for nine yards. His role will increase if Cook needs to miss more time.

Cook is listed as day-to-day, but with his injury history, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him sit out. If the Vikings are able to get a lead, Mattison would get more usage in that situation. He is worth adding for the time being while fantasy managers await more information to come out. Mattison is rostered in 37.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

3. Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

Both Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins were out for the week 3 game against the Buccaneers. Randall Cobb played through an illness as well, which left the Packers limited at wide receiver. Romeo Doubs stepped up when the team needed him, as he had eight receptions for 73 yards and one touchdown.

Doubs also played well during training camp and preseason. The performance in week 3 was his biggest of the regular season and he did it against a solid Buccaneers’ secondary. He deserves more opportunities moving forward. Doubs is available in nearly 85 percent of ESPN leagues.

4. Devin Duvernay, WR, Baltimore Ravens

Duvernay has been on fire to start the season. In week 3, he found the endzone for the third straight week. He finished the game with two receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown catch. While he had just two targets, he converted on both.

It is no secret that Duvernay is more of a big-play threat than a player that will see a consistent amount of targets. He keeps finding the endzone though, so he is worth the pick up. Playing him comes at the fantasy manager’s own risk. He is rostered in 17.6 percent of ESPN leagues.

5. Michael Gallup, WR, Dallas Cowboys

Gallup is still recovering from an ACL tear that occurred last season. He hasn’t played a snap and was ruled inactive for Monday Night Football against the Giants in week 3. It does appear that he is close to returning to action.

The Cowboys have needed Gallup’s presence all season, as they have struggled moving the ball. It is best to pick him up a week before he comes back into the fold, as he could have a big game then become more in demand the next week. As the number two receiver in Dallas, he will catch passes from Cooper Rush for a few more weeks before Dak Prescott is ready to play. He is rostered in 46.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
