FlyQuest are just a little ahead of Cloud9 as far as performances for this season are concerned. They’ve managed seven wins and three losses so far, whereas Cloud9 have managed six wins out of their 10 matches.

Cloud9 have had a bit of a disappointing season by their own high standards, having done a lot better in the league last split with 13 wins from their 18 games. They’ve recovered well in recent games after a slow start but another loss will see them equal the number of losses they had last season, which is a bit worrying with quite a few games still left in the league. We break down the League of Legends betting choices for this LCS match.

FlyQuest have got everyone moving in the same direction

FlyQuest have no real complaints for the time being. Two more wins in the league will see them tie their league wins from last season.

FlyQuest are an aggressive side from start to finish with a first blood rate of 63.6%, first tower rate of 54.5% and average game duration for the season at 32 minutes and 50 seconds. This approach has rewarded them with 11.6 kills per game, but their defensive stability has been key to their improved performances. Averaging 8.6 deaths per game, only 100 Thieves have got fewer deaths per game in LCS this season. The mid laner, toucouille, has typified this stability with only 2.03 deaths per game this year.

“I was watching some documentary or something about Bjergsen’s career and life and it was really inspiring for me — the little kid that was socially awkward and had some trouble making friends at school became an LCS superstar,” toucouille told Nerd Street. “It was really inspiring for me at the time. I’m so happy that, five years down the road, I’m playing in this league, playing against him, it motivates me even more to go to the next level and be one of the best LCS mid laners.

“I think I’ve always been pretty good at teamfighting. There are some flanking champions that I am not an expert at, so I’m trying to work on those. Macro-wise, I feel like I’ve actually improved a lot during MSI. I was watching a lot of MSI games, a lot of RNG games — and I think I learned a lot of macro from them. I’m trying to continue to improve my laning phase because I think I can do way better. Those are my plans for the future of becoming an LCS superstar.”

They haven’t been entirely dependent on any one member and that’s been key to their rise. Even bot laner, Johnsun, has only averaged 3.82 kills per game, which is the highest in the side but far from eye catching. Each player takes on multiple responsibilities and is expected to contribute to everything, which doesn’t leave them with any obvious strengths but also leaves them with no obvious weaknesses.

Cloud9 need to slow the game down

There will be a real clash of styles in this match. Cloud9 go about things very differently than FlyQuest. They are far slower and methodical at their best, as the first blood and first tower rates of 36.4% suggests. This drawn-out approach is seen the whole way through with most of their matches lasting 33 minutes and 58 seconds.

It has got them a sufficient amount of kills per game at 10.7 but they’ve not been the most defensively stable this season, getting killed the same number of times. For comparisons sake, Cloud9 have a KD ratio of 1 compared to FlyQuest’s 1.33 for the season. If FlyQuest’s aggressive approach does damage a little early, it will be difficult for Cloud9 to recover. If they can hold FlyQuest off, the game will suit them.

Cloud9 have had no real consistency this season and part of that’s got to do with using at least 11 different players at various points this year. Only Jungler, Flabber, and top laner, Fudge, have played all year. They’ve both been fairly impressive as their KDA of 3.72 and 4.9 suggests. They need a bit of help form their teammates and need to go in with the same lineup from the last two games that paved the way for their recovery.

FlyQuest vs Cloud9 Predictions

This promises to be a fascinating encounter, as evidenced by the LoL odds, between two teams that seem to be hitting a bit of form. Cloud9 at their best are probably a better side than FlyQuest, who have improved this season. In our LoL predictions, we think Cloud9 will put in another good performance because they have more to lose in this one.
