Fortnite Now Runs On Unreal Engine 5.1, Supports Next-Gen Graphical Features

Epic Games has transitioned its live game Fortnite into Unreal Engine 5.1, the latest rendition of the developer’s game engine.

The free-to-play battle royale title launched as an Unreal Engine 4 title, before moving to UE5.

However, the previous update didn’t bring with it any of the cool graphical features UE5 was touted to have. But with this latest update, Fortnite finally supports them.

The features include Nanite (more detailed geometry so trees and stones are more detailed), Lumen (ray traced reflections over gloss and water, real-time global illumination), virtual shadow maps, and Temporal Super Resolution (TSR), an upgrade of Temporal Anti-Aliasing.

The new graphical features can be seen on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, as well as via cloud gaming.
