First of all, you need a Ripsaw launcher that you can find at the Chop Shop located near the north side of the Logjam Lotus. Once you get a Ripsaw launcher, you can easily cut down timber pines.
However, the timber pine that you will cut down can damage anything if it falls down on it. Moreover, if you knock down a timber pine on the top of a mountain, it will start rolling down and will bring down all the timber pines that will come in its path.
