The round was led by MizMaa Ventures, with participation from other funds including Remagine Ventures, Gal Ventures and Kaedan Capital. Moreover, several angel investors from the gaming world, including owners of esports teams, reportedly also participated.

“This round will allow NOVOS to expand its platform to other games, alongside collaborations with professional teams in the esports scene,” commented Briga.

“These collaborations will help establish competitive gaming academies, coach players from around the world, and help them succeed in the future. As part of these collaborations with professional teams, gamers will enjoy exclusive content, the option to try out for teams and take their gaming career a huge step forward.”

Founded in 2019, the company has developed a virtual training platform, tracking the strengths and weaknesses of each gamer based on their in-game performance.

Each player gets a customised training plan that is based on the algorithm developed by the company. The platform then allows users to find similarly skilled players to practice with, improving their overall training experience.

Aaron Applbaum, Partner at MizMaa Ventures, added: “Few industries are growing as rapidly as gaming and the team at NOVOS is helping to build the infrastructure which makes that possible. Creating a methodological way for players to improve in the activity they love is so important and the team at NOVOS, all gaming practitioners, are the perfect people to build such a product.”

Other NOVOS partners include investment banking firm LionTree, alongside start-up programmes with Facebook and Intel.

Esports Insider says: With a goal of expanding its platform to other games and creating esports academies, NOVOS still has a lot of work ahead. Though $6m is a measurable investment, the success of the platform will also depend on creating a strong commercial plan. It will be interesting to see what NOVOS’ next steps will be!
