G2 Esports Confirms its VALORANT Roster for 2022

G2 Esports just revealed its brand new roster to perform at VALORANT Champions Tour 2022. Three brand new players and coach will now rock the team’s black jersey.

The new VALORANT season will soon start and now is the time for esports teams to make the final changes to their lineups. G2 Esports in particular has been in a cold streak lately and hope to turn things around with the announcement of a brand new roster.

The organization has made the acquisition of Johan “Meddo” Renbjörk Lundborg, Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas, and Daniil “pipsoN” Meshcheryakov. While all three of them have a good deal of experience in both VALORANT and Counter-Strike, pipsoN has taken the mantle of coach in 2018. It means that, unfortunately, G2 has parted ways with its previous coach in Neil “neilzinho” Finlay.

In addition, G2 Esports decided to bench Wassim “keloqz” Cista, giving him the authorization to look for other opportunities. In a nutshell, former Giants Gaming players Meddo and hoody join Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas, Óscar “mixwell” Cañellas Colocho, and Auni “AvovA” Chahade to make the full G2 Esports roster for the next year of VALORANT.

VALORANT Champions Tour

2021 has been complicated for everyone, especially for G2 Esports. Everyone had huge expectations for the team, coming off an incredible run in 2020. However, the organization failed to live up to these standards. Even after a memorable win against Sentinels at VCT 2021: Stage 3 Masters – Berlin, G2 Esports failed to qualify in the Last Chance Qualifier.

Safe to say, shaking things up is a pretty normal reaction for G2 Esports. With two new players and a fresh coach, fans can expect the beginning of a new era for G2. Indeed, the organization decided to trust players who already have good chemistry and experience, instead of privileging individual talents. This shows G2’s commitment to teamwork and its ambition towards performing well fast.

G2 Esports’ first challenges will come at the EMEA Challengers stage, around the beginning of February.
