Gaming in Holland Conference to address current issues in Dutch gambling

The upcoming 12th Annual Gaming in Holland Conference, set to be held on June 8th at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, arrives at a timely moment to address the latest developments impacting the regulated gambling market in the Netherlands.

Beginning on July 1st, the much-anticipated ban on un-targetted advertising for online gambling services will take effect. This ban encompasses all forms of broadcast, print, and outdoor advertising, and is expected to have a significant impact on the online gambling market in the country, including Netherlands-facing affiliates.

Detailed guidelines outlining the new advertising rules were recently published, providing clarity less than two weeks ago.

In addition, the Dutch government has recently communicated its exploration of the potential privatisation of Nederlandse Loterij, the largest state-owned gambling operator in the Netherlands, and the implementation of stricter deposit limits, as mentioned in Parliamentary letters.

René Jansen, Chair of the Netherlands Gambling Authority, and Fedor Meerts, Department Head Integrity and Gambling at the Ministry of Justice and Security, are among the prominent speakers expected to offer additional insights into these changes.

This year’s Gaming in Holland Conference also aims to initiate a more comprehensive dialogue between the regulated gaming industry and care and prevention organizations, with a focus on establishing a more sustainable gambling market. Floor van Bakkum, Prevention Manager at Arkin – Jellinek, and Nathalie Smit, CEO of the Netherlands’ national gambling helpline, Loket Kansspel, will share their perspectives on player protection with industry representatives.

Renowned Dutch tech watcher Remy Gieling will deliver a presentation on the role of ChatGPT and AI in the realm of online gambling. Other sessions during the conference will cover topics such as market and staffing data, operations, and affiliate marketing.

Willem van Oort, founder of Gaming in Holland, expressed his thoughts on the significance of the event, stating: “The annual Gaming in Holland Conference has become a staple in the schedules of all stakeholders in the Dutch gambling market.”

“We are delighted to welcome key decision-makers to our event, and we greatly appreciate their willingness to share their insights on creating a sustainable and responsible gambling market, particularly during this critical period.”
