A Ghostwire: Tokyo showcase video is set to debut tomorrow, at 10PM on 3rd February, but the placeholder page on YouTube has already leaked that the game will release on 25th March 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

I don’t think it gets much plainer than that, does it?

We hadn’t heard of an upcoming PlayStation Showcase until the video listing appeared – all hands are on deck at Sony for tonight’s Gran Turismo 7 State of Play stream, after all – but we can expect to get another good look at the gameplay and setting of this mysterious new game. A new horror game from developer Tango Gameworks, who created The Evil Within and its sequel, The Evil Within 2, Ghostwire: Tokyo will trade in the third person camera of those titles for a new first person view that is sure to give a very different feel.

In Ghostwire: Tokyo, the citizens of Tokyo have seemingly vanished in a cataclysmic event, the city now overrun with ghostly beings known as Visitors. Ghostwire Tokyo plays out in first person as you go in search of answers, chasing a mysterious cult-like group while throwing down against paranormal entities using a mix of magic and karate.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was announced back at E3 2019, the game was originally intended for release in 2021, though has been one of the many, many, many games that have been delayed through a particularly trying period for the games industry as a whole. It is in development for PlayStation 5 and PC, a timed console exclusive to Sony’s console, despite Microsoft now owning publisher Bethesda. Xbox owners will expect to see the game release for Xbox Series X|S one year after its PlayStation 5 release.
