Another month, another set of three cars being added to Gran Turismo 7. The August 2022 free update, update 1.20, will be bringing in another muscle car, another Porsche, and surprisingly an F1 car.

And it’s not just an F1 car. It’s the 1988 McLaren MP4/4. One of the most dominant seasons of F1 history saw this car take pole positions and race wins a whopping 15 times, out of 16 races. This is the car that racing legend Ayrton Senna drove to his first of three World Championship titles. It is missing the Marlboro branding, however, all historic racing cars in the Gran Turismo series have no tobacco references.

Gran Turismo Sport previously had the 2017 Mercedes-AMG F1 car, though that didn’t make it to GT7. At least now the game has its token licensed F1 car in its roster of cars.

Next is the Pontiac GTO “The Judge”. Releasing in 1969, it’s one of the last of the gas guzzlers, this one has a 6.6 litre V8, as by the 70’s the US has enforced stricter emissions regulations as a result of the 1970 energy crisis.

And Porsche fans continues to be eating good with another car from Stuggart. Though a familiar one. The Porsche Cayman GT4 of 2016 is the non-race version of the Gr.4 Cayman GT4 Clubsport already available in the game. It’s not the more recent 718 Cayman, unfortunately, but a road-going version was sorely lacking before and now it’s here.

Gran Turismo 7 August 2022 Update New Cars:

  • 1988 McLaren MP4/4
  • 1969 Pontiac GTO “The Judge”
  • 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4

Technically there is one more car, but the Dior collaboration just adds a new livery on the De Tomasso Mangusta which is already available in the game.

There are no new tracks, but the Circuit de-Barcelona-Catalunya gets three new layouts. First is the GP layout but without the chicane at the final turn. There’s also the National layout which omits Sector 1 and half of Sector 2. And fascinatingly, the last layout is the Rallycross layout which combines part of the tarmac with a dirt section.

The August 2022 update also adds the following extra menu (only need to collect cars, no race win required):

  • “Collection: Abarth” opens at Collector Level 27
  • “Collection: Gr.2 Racing Cars” opens at Collector Level 38
