Gran Turismo 7 September 2022 Update Adds Three New Cars

Polyphony Digital’s racing game Gran Turismo 7 is getting a free update this month, and as what you expect with these free updates since launch, it’s another set of three cars for September 2022.

Update 1.23 is less on the nostalgic side, with two being modern cars.

The main headliner is the Volkswagen ID. R. The EV prototype blitzed up to the top of Pikes Peak in record time back in 2018, not only breaking the electric car record for the hill climb, but also the outright record- the first to set a sub-eight minute time.

Think of it as the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak of the 2010s. The VW ID R entering GT7 is based on the 2019 model.

For the third month in a row, we’re getting another Porsche, but this one is a little less exciting. It’s the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder, an open-top version of the already-available Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, one of the two cover cars for GT7.

The last in the slot is for the 90’s JDM gang. The Nissan Silvia K’s Type S, otherwise known as the S14 Silvia, is getting added to GT7.

Gran Turismo 7 September 2022 Update 1.23 New Cars

  • Volkswagen ID. R 2019
  • Nissan Silvia K’s Type S(S14) 1994
  • Porsche Vision Gran Turismo Spyder

No new tracks or track layouts this month. That gets added every other monthly update- last month saw more layouts for Catalunya which includes one for rallycross.

Update 1.23 also adds 1 new Menu Book and 2 Extra Menus in the Cafe. Menu Books usually adds a set of three new races whereas Extra Menus requires only you to have already collected the required cars.

  • Menu Book No. 45: ‘The Silvia Sisters’ (Collector Level 27 and above)
  • Extra Menu No. 8: ‘Collection: Corvette’ (Collector Level 20 and above)
  • Extra Menu No. 9: ‘Collection: Mid-engine Porsche’ (Collector Level 45 and above

A few new races are also added. And the update also addresses some issues regarding the online lobby and Sport Mode. Full patch notes can be found here.
