How to find and beat Stalnox in Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of different world bosses you can take on, whether that be the easily beaten Hinox, or the incredibly challenging Lynel. You can find a challenge around any corner. One of these world bosses is the Stalnox. It’s the skeletal variation of the Hinox, and can pose a little bit more of a threat than the original Hinox if you don’t know how to defeat it. Here’s our guide on how to find and beat Stalnox in Tears of the Kingdom.

How to find and beat Stalnox in Tears of the Kingdom

The first step is to find yourself a Stalnox, and there are quite a few in the massive open world of Tears of the Kingdom. You can find one on the northwest side of Death Mountain, for example, or one at the bottom of the Chasm in Skull Lake, or in the Tanagar Canyon East Cave. You can see the locations of these in the image below by using the stamps. There are more in the open world, including the Depths, so keep an eye out if you need some more to fight.

Beating a Stalnox

The first thing you’re going to need to know to beat a Stalnox in Tears of the Kingdom is that they don’t appear in sunlight. If you’re fighting one outside, you’re going to need to come at night. Ones you find in caves and the Depths don’t need to adhere to these rules, as sunlight isn’t a factor here, so you can fight those at any time of day.

Once you get to a Stalnox, it’s time to start fighting. Defeating a Stalnox in Tears of the Kingdom is relatively similar to defeating a Hinox. You can just hit its legs, then as it winds up to do the jump attack, run away, and repeat. You can also use your bow to hit its eye and stagger it to get some free hits in.

The trick to learning to beat a Stalnox in Tears of the Kingdom is its eye. Like most other skeletal enemies, you need to attack a certain part for it to truly kill it. You can sometimes get its eye to fall on the ground by doing enough damage or hitting it in the eye with an arrow, and when that happens, you need to be on alert to attack the eye. After you lower the health bar of the eye to zero, the Stalnox will be defeated. This is essentially one hit if you deplete the Stalnox’s health before attempting to go after the eye, so that’s how I do it as it’s easier than aiming for the eye with my bow or using fuse materials, but you can probably do it quicker if you use something like Keese Eyeballs to auto-aim for the eye.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
