How to Pick Locks in Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 pick locks

Do you need some help on how to pick locks in Dying Light 2? Hopefully we can be of assistance.

From chests to ambulances, and from tanks to doors, there are a lot of locks to pick in Dying Light 2. Thankfully, once you’ve got the hang of things, they’re pretty easy to do. We’ll walk you through the stages.

First, make sure you’ve got a healthy supply of lock picks. You can craft them using scraps, which are one of the most common resources in the game. It’s ideal to have a dozen or so crafted at any one time.

Armed with your lockpicks, then, you’re now free to approach any lock and attempt to open in. They come in three difficulties: Easy, Medium and Hard. Don’t worry – they’re all opened in the same way. The harder a lock’s difficulty is, the more precision you’ll need. But we’ve found there often isn’t too much difference.

To pick a lock in Dying Light 2, use the left stick to move the pick, and the right stick to turn the lock. The goal is to get the pick to the right place, which will allow the lock to turn. If the pick is not in the right place, the lock won’t move and your controller will vibrate to signal you’ve met resistance.

You’ll want to keep moving the pick slightly until you find an area that allows the lock to turn. If it turns a little bit, you know you’re close. Keep adjusting the pick until it’s in the right place.

After too many failed attempts, your pick will break and you’ll need to use a new one.
You can upgrade your lockpick blueprint to make them more durable, but since they’re such an easy resource to craft, we’re not sure it’s entirely worthwhile.
