The grappling hook in Dying Light 2 is an incredibly useful tool to have at your disposal, so how do you unlock one for yourself?

Like the paraglider, the grappling hook increases your options when it comes to traversing the hostile open world of Dying Light 2. While parkour is still your key method of movement, some jumps and gaps are just a little out of reach for natural ability. Luckily, the grappling hook is available to keep things fluid and ensure you stay out of harms way.

So, how do you get hold of a grappling hook for yourself?

Thankfully, the grappling hook is an unmissable item in Dying Light 2. As long as you progress through the main story, you’ll unlock the ability to use it. Players can obtain the grappling hook during the mission “Broadcast.”

It’s worth noting that this isn’t a very early mission, so if you’re 10 or so hours in and wondering why you haven’t got it yet – don’t worry, you’ve got a ways to go. Those breezing through without much exporation or side-tracking will likely reach the grappling hook faster, however.

The grappling hook has a few uses, not least of all the ability to propel yourself from one place to another. It doesn’t quite operate in a direct way like you might think, rather more like a swing. Be sure you’ve got enough space, and height, to use it.

Additionally, players can use the grappling hook to pull enemies in closer to finish off with a melee attack adding a some more fluidity to the combat.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PCs.
