Hullbreaker Nerfed in League of Legends Patch 12.5

Master Yi, Gwen, Ahri, and of course the Hullbreaker item have run rampant in LoL Season 12. However, Riot Games has finally decided to put a stop to it in the new League of Legends patch 12.5.

With the exception of the new bee skins, this new League of Legends patch does really not introduce new mechanics but instead focuses on balancing the meta. Some champions and combinations of items proved to be too much, while some others were left by the player base to rot.

Nerfs

The tankyness brought to some champions via the Hullbreaker was clearly too game-breaking for Riot Games. So, the developers decided to keep the legendary item’s abilities intact, but only for melee champions.

Upon its use by ranged champions, its capabilities will be halved. This should satisfy both those who liked the item and the few who were angry about its abuse.

The Master Yi’s build based on the Duskblade of Draktharr had been on Riot Games’ hitlist for some time. His Alpha Strike’s base damage got nerfed, alongside his E, in favor of additional on-hit damage.

Furthermore, players can now buffer skills during his Q. Instead of completely nerfing him from the ground up, Riot Games tried to push players towards making use of Master Yi’s crit capabilities.

Ahri and Gwen both saw different kinds of nerfs as well. The former got stuck with her abilities requiring more mana than before while Gwen lost some range and firepower.

Buffs

Samira, Kennen, and Seraphine all received noticeable buffs. Slowly but surely, players were losing trust over her capabilities as support, preferring other available options. Now, her W ability heals and shields better, is more cost-effective in terms of mana, and gives her a better kit in the long run. Although it sacrifices her making an impact on other roles, it makes her more relevant as support.

Some of Samira’s base stats saw an increase, which adds to a decrease in her ultimate cooldown. Finally, Kennen’s auto-attacks, improved under her W, will do more damage.

The League of Legends patch 12.5 also comes with 4 new bee skins, for Heimerstinger, Orbeeanna, Nunu & Beelump, and BZZZiggs.
