IEM Cologne 2022: Movistar Riders makes history as they head into an IEM Semis for the first time

Astralis also within reach of winning their first IEM title ever in their match history.

With the Semifinals of the IEM Cologne just a few hours away, the two teams that moved from the quarterfinals are making their own personal history in this competition. The next stage of the IEM Cologne, the last competition before the summer break is just around the corner.

Astralis is one of the two teams that moved on to the semifinals where they will be meeting one of, if not, the best CS:GO team in the world right now – Natus Vincere. Their journey in the competition has mainly been stress-free, especially in the group stages. They beat Complexity and BIG to book their place on the group stage. The story was largely the same in the group stage, where they clean swept their matches with FURIA and Cloud9; but unfortunately, they had to be happy with being the Group B runner-up when they lost to FaZe Clan.

Movistar Riders meanwhile made history as they are in an IEM playoffs stage for the first time. Along the way, they beat teams such as Team Liquid, Team Vitality and G2 Esports. The Spaniards are showing their muscle in the competition.

The next match will be between Natus Vincere and Astralis – two powerhouses looking to flex their muscle in the competition. Movistar Riders will be meeting FaZe Clan in their match, as the sole Europe vs NA match at this stage of the competition. Follow the latest info and scores on our hub page HERE.
