We’re not sure it’s much of a decision really, but Death or Treat may not be exactly what it seems. 

Available right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, Death or Treat certainly comes with some Ori vibes and Hollow Knight ideals. But this is a 2D action roguelite, a hack and slasher, a gorgeous drop of visual joy. 

It’s priced at £19.99 from the Xbox Store as Perp Games look to bring a spooky tale to the console and PC masses. Now, when we say masses, we mean those on new-gen consoles only, as currently there is no love for those on Xbox One or PlayStation 4. That new-gen exclusivity though does mean Perp get to push the boat out a little bit more. 

And push that boat they seemingly have done as Death or Treat is most definitely looking like verging into the latter. With a glorious handpainted world to explore, combat styles to work with, Death or Treat allows you the chance to play as Scary, the owner of the leader of Halloween candies, Ghost Mart. However, when the Halloween spirit goes missing and Ghost Mart is on the verge of collapse, Scary heads out to put matters right, taking down FaceBoo, DarkChat, DevilTube and RipTok – yes, we know what you’re thinking. 

With magic spells ready to be crafted, new weapons up for use and combat an absolutely fundamental part of how Death or Treat plays, your time helping Scary should well be a good one. We’ll let you know if it all works out well in our full review of Death or Treat on Xbox Series X|S.

Starting with Darkchat, Riptok, Deviltube, and last but not least FaceBoo!, the ultimate epic frontier. Combat is one of the fundamental pillars of Death or Treat.
