Israel vs Albania Match Analysis and Prediction

Heading into their final UEFA Nations League fixture sitting top of League B Group 2, Israel will be looking to seal promotion by beating Albania on Saturday.

In a group that Russia were expelled as part of their international exile, the Israelis lead th way by two points from Iceland, while their visitors Albania are still in search of a first victory.

Israel welcome Group 2’s last-placed nation to Tel Aviv this week with their destiny entirely in their own hands, having gone unbeaten through their first three matches during the summer.

Fr the first time, Alon Hazan’s side stand on the brink of promotion to the Nations League’s top tier, as they maintained a two-point gap to closest rivals Iceland by playing out a 2-2 draw in Reykjavik last time out.

Having gone unbeaten through their last six home matches, Israel are clear favourites to claim top spot in their three-nation group, which would not only see them mixing it with Europe’s top dogs next time around, but also partly compensate fro their failure to reach Qatar 2022.

Albania finished third in their World Cup qualifying group, just like Israel, but they did manage to pip a strong Hungary squad to conclude the campaign behind only England and Poland in the standings.

However, since their quest for a spot in this year’s global finals came to an end, they have failed to win any of five subsequent matches, three friendlies and two in the Nations League.

After drawing with Iceland and losing at home to Israel, Albania are in distinct danger of demotion to League C, from which they were only promoted less than two years ago.

However, with two wins from their final two matches, they could even earn promotion to League, the nature of a group from which Russia were ejected.

Israel news

Manor Solomon is unavailable for Israel this week, as he continues to recover from a knee surgery, while Munas Dabbur recently retired from international duty.

Real Valladolid striker Shon Weissman’s participation up front is a doubt on Saturday, so Liel Abada is set to add onto his tally of eight senior caps.

Albania news

Albania have Atalanta defender Berat Djimsiti out of action due to a leg injury sustained against Milan last month, while Roma’s Marash Kumbulla was not called up.

Lazio full-back Elseid Hysaj will captain the team, while Rey Manaj’s hamstring strain sees him omitted from the squad, so Armando Broja should start up front.

Prediction and Odds

Due to the absence of some regulars up front, Israel may struggle to breach Albania defence in their bid to get the three points they desire from their final game.

Albania possess sufficient experience to hold their hosts to a draw, having done so with Iceland when they last met in this competition in June.
