  • Cleveland and New York get the action underway in Ohio at 7:10pm ET
  • Read below for the latest NBA props and best bets

Monday night isn’t the most packed of the NBA season, but that doesn’t detract from what should be a fun schedule. Last season’s Eastern Conference overachievers travel to Cleveland to face their successors. The Cavs, who have the best record against the spread in the Association, are priced as seven-point favorites in the Cavaliers vs Knicks odds against Tom Thibodeau’s squad.

Up next, it’s the Pacers and Pelicans, tipping off at 8:10pm ET in New Orleans. Chicago and Oklahoma City are scheduled to begin their game at the same time as the Bulls look to pick up another win despite numerous key injuries.

The night concludes with a duel of Western Conference heavyweights between Phoenix and Utah. The Suns have lost just once in January – Monty Williams’ team is heavily favored.

As of publish time, only props for two of the four games were on the board

Odds as of Jan 24th at FanDuel Sportsbook

OKC  standout Josh Giddey is projected to record the most rebounds and assists, as the Thunder’s do-it-all first year player remains a darkhorse in the NBA Rookie of the Year odds.

Bet on Garland’s Scoring

The Knicks and Cavaliers are two of the four slowest teams in the league over the last 10. Still, 20.5 is an insultingly low points line for All-Star candidate and Most Improved Player odds riser Darius Garland.

Garland has scored 21 or more in four of five games. Extend that back a few games further, and it’s six of his last 10. Cleveland has a rest advantage here, with the Knicks playing on the second night of a back-to-back. Their perimeter defense has been up and down this year, too. Reggie Jackson dropped 26 on Sunday afternoon.

New York ranks in the bottom five in the NBA in opponent three-point rate. Garland has more to his game than chucking it from long-range, but his 6.8 attempts per contest show he’s a threat from that range. The Knicks generally prevent mid-range looks, though they are below-average at defending short mid-range attempts. This is where Garland is at his most lethal – he’s in the 100th percentile on short mid-range shots, largely due to a lethal floater.

Perhaps New York has the size to slow down the scoring of Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. There’s no answer for Garland with how he’s been playing lately, though, and he should be able to dictate proceedings on Monday night. Take his points over.

  • Pick: Darius Garland over 20.5 points (-110)

SGA Dominates Weakened Bulls

Consistency has been a bit of an issue for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but the Thunder’s star man has been doing it all lately. Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 27, 6 and 7 over his last seven games. He’s recorded 36 or more points, rebounds and assists in five of those games.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been able to contribute considerably more in all facets of the game. His assist and rebounding rates have improved markedly on his season averages, and he’s leading the team in dimes over that period, taking over from Josh Giddey. The 32% usage rate over this spell would rank ninth in all players on the season, ahead of Steph Curry, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic and Kevin Durant.

The season records of these two teams might be a concern. This game would usually be considered a potential blowout, with Chicago sitting third in the West and OKC owning the fourth-worst net rating. With Lonzo Ball, Zach LaVine, Javonte Green and Alex Caruso all out, though, this is a much more competitive matchup.

Chicago’s defense has also plummeted of late, ranking fifth-worst in the NBA across the last 10 games. They are also in the bottom ten in rebounding over that span. While Ayo Dosunmu is a great perimeter defender, they are more vulnerable to lengthy scorers like Gilgeous-Alexander with Ball and Caruso sidelined.

The combination of Chicago’s weaknesses and his own track record points towards a big night from SGA. Take the over here.

  • Pick: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 35.5 points, rebounds and assists (-120)
