Konami announces Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel gem giveaway and first tournament

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is off to a flying start, with over 10 million downloads in less than a month. As a thank you, Konami is giving away 1,000 gems to each player to celebrate the early milestone, so now you don’t need Kaiba money to get deck-building. This is good news, because the first official tournament is on the way too.

It’s no massive surprise to see a Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel gem giveaway as the player base grows, especially for those who enjoy the regular freebies offered in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. As the game’s reach gets bigger, and more cards and tournaments arrive, we can only expect more freebies, and more sweet free gems. Of course, 1,000 gems is a pretty generous amount too, and with that, you’ll be able to buy up to ten Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel secret packs to improve your collection.

Not only has Konami led the games first mass giveaway, but they’ve also revealed plans for an inaugural online tournament. The XYZ festival begins on February 17, and runs for a full week before ending on the 23rd in the U.S, and the 24th in Europe and the UK. This tournament offers rewards for all players, win or lose, so it’s well worth taking part in for another few extras.
