Lady Gaga plots ‘unconventional punishment’ in new House of Gucci trailer

Lady Gaga shines front and center in the second trailer for House of Gucci, Ridley Scott’s second feature-length movie of 2021 (following the release of The Last Duel earlier this month).

Starring Adam Driver and Lady Gaga, House of Gucci centers on the story of fashion mogul Maurizo Gucci’s (Driver) marriage to Patrizia Reggiani (Gaga), his rise to global prominence, and his eventual assassination at the hands of killers hired by his wife.

Adapted from Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed, Scott’s film features an ensemble supporting cast including Jared Leto and Al Pacino as Maurizo’s cousins Paolo and Aldo Gucci, respectively, as well as Jeremy Irons as his father Rodolfo Gucci. The film also stars Salma Hayek as Giuseppina “Pina” Auriemma, Reggiani’s friend and confidant who assists her in her plot to kill Gucci.

The trailer depicts Reggiani’s first meeting with her future husband’s family of boisterous, roughhousing personalities. Featuring a quick first look at Antonello Annunziata as rival fashion mogul Karl Lagerfeld and what appears to be a fictionalized portrayal of model-singer-actress Grace Jones, the trailer concludes with an intense montage of Maurizo, Aldo, and Paolo arguing, ending with Reggiani proclaiming that while she doesn’t consider herself a particularly ethical person, she is fair and subscribes to a belief in “unconventional punishment.”

House of Gucci will premiere in theaters on Nov. 24.
