LCS Week 7 Day 2 Summer Split 2022 Recap

The penultimate week of the LCS has begun its play and the playoff race is only getting more exciting.

Counter Logic Gaming vs FlyQuest LCS Week 7

Unlike their usual gameplay, CLG did not start the game as aggressively with invades or ganks. It was FLY who had the kill advantages during the early game. But thanks to their comp getting online much earlier, they found some picks during the mid game and got a 20-minute Baron, even though they lost three members due to their low health. During the late game, even with a second CLG Baron and 6k gold lead, FLY was putting up a good fight with Philip split pushing. Teams continued trading objectives and kills, but CLG had a stronger pressure around the map, even when their gold lead was down to 3k. After four Barons, the game was in a standoff but CLG made a great double Teleport play to end the longest game of the split.

Cloud9 vs 100 Thieves LCS Week 7

Nilah was enabled for pro play on patch 12.14 and was picked for the first time in LCS by Cloud9.

100T started the game with a level three bot dive to punish the Nilah pick, and through the first 14 minutes the focus stayed on that lane. Even though C9 got the first tower for their ADC, their overaggressiveness got punished by a more coordinated 100T side. And 100T domination continued toward the mid-late game as well. They won the majority of the fights, including the big one after C9 got a Baron. C9 had almost stabilized at one point but after another crucial mistake by them gave a Baron to 100T and with their bot lane fully scaled the Thieves ended the game easily.

Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses LCS Week 7

TL showed a very different look this week against the top team in the league. Santorin was very focused on the top lane and they had already dove Impact three times before the 10th-minute mark. EG tried to answer but it failed time and time again with the gold lead over 6k and Bwipo at 4 kills at 12 minutes. EG tried to fight for control of the map but TL was so ahead that they did not stand a chance and the game ended in a sub-25-minute stump.

Immortals vs Golden Guardians LCS Week 7

This important game for one of the last playoff spots started out very close in kills but IMT’s control over Heralds and overall better laning gave them a very strong gold advantage in the early-mid game. Even with the gold deficit staying level through mid-game, IMT’s macro was much better compared to GG and they got themselves a Baron. GG’s only answer in the game seemed to be the Licorice split pushing on Fiora. Still, the scaling from IMT was overwhelming and they eventually finished the game with their Baron.

TSM vs Dignitas LCS Week 7

The last game of the day was slower than the four before it. No kills before 14 but the game exploded for TSM after that point as they found the kills and towers they were looking for to extend their lead to 5k. After taking a Baron and two inhibitors TSM was in a position to end the game but they had two unsuccessful attempts. Still, with over 10k gold lead, it did not matter and the game ended eventually on their third try.

Highs and lows of the day

When talking about individuals hitting the high highs of not just the day but the whole weekend the first name in mind is Bwipo. First his Olaf then a creative Gwen counter with Sett, he was dominating his opponents throughout the two games.

As for the teams, 100T was exceptional as a team today. Their aggression in the early game was a reminder of good old times when the early bot dives were still common, and how they kept their foot on the gas and never let C9 breath around the map was a good sign for their improvement.

Other honorable mentions on positive notes are CLG and FLY, both teams played a great game even though one of them had to lose in the end. Toucoucille performed great on Zoe, which is a notoriously hard champion to pilot in team fights.

Last and least, there is Cloud9. This is now two games in a row they did not look like they were in the game. Their uncoordinated play and overaggressiveness keep getting punished and their individual performances, especially Blaber this week, are not up to par with top teams.
