LEC Summer 2022 Week 5 Day 2: Perkz Continues His MVP Campaign Despite All Odds. Elyoya and the MAD Lions Snap SK Gaming’s Win Streak

Perkz continues his MVP Campaign despite all odds, carrying his team to victory against Misfits. Elyoya’s clutch teamfight snaps SK Gaming’s win streak.

MAD Lions vs SK Gaming

SK Gaming’s win streak comes crashing down after the underdogs put up a valiant fight against the frontrunning MAD Lions.

SK started off thick and fast with ultra aggressive plays, forcing the Lions into unexplored territory as this is probably one of the few times we’ve seen the team behind in the early stages of any game.

However, Elyoya and Kaiser fired back, picking off SK members in the early to mid game transitions multiple times and forcing themselves back into the game.

SK Gaming surprised me by being contentious with MAD in these teamfights. Led by Gilius and Sertuss, they were going toe to toe with the Lions in the majority of objective fights, narrowly winning or losing them to force parody.

Ultimately, a monstrously clutch fight from Elyoya’s Trundle broke that streak of contention for SK Gaming, and the MAD Lions were able to compound their skirmish victory into successive fights that eventually resulted in SK’s win streak being snapped at three.

Team Vitality vs Misfits Gaming

Sometimes we forget that Vitality is supposed to be a super team…

I mean, given how painfully lukewarm their split has been, you could be forgiven for forgetting.

Nevertheless, they were dominant against a Misfits team which has a penchant for upsetting teams, closing out the rabbits in clean, dominant fashion.

Perkz continues his underrated campaign for League MVP with yet another great performance on Taliyah. He was omnipresent throughout the map and I could literally see the strings around his teammates that he was so expertly pulling in order to get them to function.

Labrov also had himself a rare good game, probably the second one of the split, where his Tahm Kench proved critical in finding key engages and saving allies on the brink of death.

We’ll see if this measured, calculated form of Vitality is simply a flash in the pan against a middle of the pack team, or if this is the start of something bigger…

MVP: Perkz (4)
