Less than a week before the roster lock deadline, Team Secret are down to three players as they announce the departure of MATUMBAMAN.
Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen joined Team Secret in late 2019 and was one of the key factors in Secret’s stellar 2020 online run that brought them 7 tournament trophies won in a row, all secured with clean 3-0 grand finals sweeps. With him in the carry position, Team Secret dominated the European region during the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit and placed third at The International 10, which is the team’s best performance to date.
“We are proud to say that we would not have achieved so much if it wasn’t for his contributions,” said Team Secret in their official announcement from this Monday.
“This isn’t just a story of lucky shorts. Lasse’s ability to play any hero and obliterate any opposition on the safe lane made him one of the most reliable pillars of our team through online tournaments, Majors, and this previous TI,” the organization added.
Matumbaman’s departure happens about two weeks after Team Secret had to also bid farewell to Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg. But while the latter has been already officially announced to have joined Team Liquid, Matumaban’s whereabouts are currently unknown. It is unclear if he will be joining another organization in the coming few days left before the roster lock deadline or if he will take a competitive break.
Another chapter has ended, but never forgotten. Lasse is an amazing guy and I really enjoyed being teammates with him. We shared some great moments together and I am sure that we will keep crossing paths outside of our careers. Good luck to you Matu! – Clement “Puppey” Ivanov
The post TI10 shuffle is set to come to a close on the 21st of November, with the next Dota Pro Circuit announced to commence on the 29th of the month for all six major regions.
