Mekhi Becton Likely Out for 2022-2023 Season

Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton will likely miss the entire 2022-2023 season. He suffered a knee cap fracture in training camp, and will need surgery to repair it. The rehab for this surgery coupled with his size and position will sideline him for an extended period of time.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.

Becton was a Jets first round draft pick out of Louisville in the 2020 NFL Draft, 11th overall. During his three years at Louisville, he won the Jacobs Blocking Award and was named to the First Team All-ACC during the 2019 season.

The massive left tackle (6-foot-7, 419 lbs.) has failed to stay healthy for an entire season since being drafted. In 2020, he played in 14 games. In 2021, he played in just one regular season game before being carted off with what was supposed to be a 4-6 week injury. It kept Becton out for the entire year.
