Metal Slug Tactics Delayed to 2023

Dotemu and Leikir Studio have announced that Metal Slug Tactics has been delayed to 2023.

“Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma are tinkering away to make Metal Slug Tactics as explosive as possible on release, but the squad needs a bit more time in the shop to prepare for the battles ahead,” publisher Dotemu said in a statement on Twitter. “See you in 2023!”

Metal Slug Tactics was first revealed during last year’s Summer Game Fest and was slated for a release this year. Unfortunately, players will now have to wait a little longer.

Only a PC version was initially announced, but a Switch version was added soon after. Both versions are now due for release in 2023.

The game will see series antagonist Donald Morden of the Rebel army back in action after going into hiding for a while. He’s staged a coup d’etat and now intends to get his revenge on the world with a new army he has accumulated. It’s up to Marco, Fio, Eri, Tarma, and the rest of the PF Squad to stop Morden before the war goes on any further.

Metal Slug Tactics is one of many games to be pushed back to 2023. Marvel’s Midnight Suns was delayed from its October 7 release date into an unspecified period next year. Redfall and Starfield, two big hitters from Bethesda, were pushed into the first half of 2023. Last month, Square Enix also delayed Forspoken to January 2023 due to strategic reasons.
