Microsoft’s 20th Anniversary Celebrations had a number of welcome announcements (including the multiplayer beta of a certain Halo Infinite), but the most substantial was undoubtedly the release of 76 games onto the Xbox Store, as part of Microsoft’s backwards compatibility service. Fallout, you are no longer the most notorious ‘76’ in gaming.
There are some absolute belters on the list, including the complete Max Payne series, the complete F.E.A.R. series and our personal favourites, Timesplitters 2, 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and Beautiful Katamari. Fight us – they’re classics.
They will all get some Auto HDR love, while OG Xbox games all receive a 4x resolution increase on Xbox Series X and Xbox One X, a 3x increase on Xbox Series S, and a 2x resolution increase on Xbox One S and Xbox One. There’s also an FPS boost to several of these games, as well as boosts to some of the already-available backwards compatible games, like the Gears of War series.
