With the playoff races heating up, teams are battling for divisional leads and wild card positions. There is a full slate of games in MLB on August 14 with the Phillies versus Mets rivalry headlining the action.

Philadelphia Phillies versus New York Mets

Both teams enter play “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Mets have a +28 to +27 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. The teams have combined in games “over” the line in 8 of their last ten games. The Score Predictor has the Mets by a score of 6-5 with 91 percent confidence. New York has been the more stable team, coming in at +26 to +8 on the Team Volatility Oscillator.  This game very well could be a one-run decision and going with the Mets simply because they are at home. This is the game of the day.

Cleveland Guardians versus Toronto Blue Jays

The two teams are heading in opposite directions. Cleveland is “burning hot” and +22 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while Toronto is “ice cold down” and +6, respectively. Both teams have been trending in games “over” the line, having done so nine times over the last 12 games. The Score Predictor likes Cleveland by a score of 6-2 with 68 percent confidence. Note that both teams are consistently performing with regards to their favorite/underdog status. Go with Cleveland in a game “over” the line.

Milwaukee Brewers versus St. Louis Cardinals

In this NL Central battle, the Cardinals host the Brewers. Both teams enter the play “burning hot” and the Brewers have a +23 to +13 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Aaron Ashby is set to pitch for the Brewers and Miles Mikolas will get the ball for the Cardinals. Ashby is 2-10 with a 4.32 ERA and -506 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator, while Mikolas is 8-9 with a 3.50 ERA and also a poor bet at -136. Both teams have been trending in games “over” the line. St. Louis has shown more stability, according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Cardinals at home in a game “over” the line.

Pittsburgh Pirates versus San Francisco Giants

Both teams come into play struggling a bit. The Pirates are “ice cold up” and +11 on the Power Ranking Indicator and the Giants are “average down” and +15, respectively. Both teams have been trending in games “over” the line and the Score Predictor likes the Giants by a score of 7-1 with 52 percent confidence. Note that the Pirates have been more consistent with regard to their favorite/underdog status at +23 to +14 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Giants in a game “under” the line.

New York Yankees versus Boston Red Sox

In this AL East rivalry matchup, both teams head into play “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Red Sox have a +5 to 0 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. Jameson Taillon is set to pitch for the Yankees and the Red Sox have not named their starter. Taillon is 11-2 with  3.95 ERA and a very good bet at +687 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The Score Predictor likes Boston by a 5-3 score with 74 percent confidence. I am going the other way with this, picking the Yankees but avoiding the “over/under” bet.

Baltimore Orioles versus Tampa Bay Rays

The Orioles enter the contest playing great baseball, “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “average down” for Tampa Bay. Baltimore has a +25 to +14 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Both teams have been involved in games “over” the line in five of their last six. The Score Predictor has the Orioles in a 9-1 blowout with 66 percent confidence. Note that Tampa Bay is more consistent at +16 to +4 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Orioles to continue their hot trend, but avoid the “over/under” bet.
