MSI 2022 Rumble Stage Day 3: G0-2 Flounder Again VS. RNG

More “happy drafts” continue for the previously undefeated team as they flounder versus a decisive RNG team on Day 3 of the Rumble Stage.

RNG vs G2: Back to Back Ls

G2 drop two games on Day 3 as RNG simply run them around the map, holding the LEC champs to only one turret and six kills. G2 tried to get cute in the draft once again, pulling out BrokenBlade’s Riven without flash, alongside Targamas’ Yummi. While Yummi excels with every single one of G2’s champions, the comp ultimately required a very high degree of execution to succeed with. RNG never gave them a chance for the vast majority of the game, simply crossmapping turrets with Heralds as G2 tried to use their Yuumi to setup side lane picks. GALA was able to last hit three kills and eventually carried the game with his monstrous teamfighting, further cementing his case of the MVP of the Rumble Stage thus far. Given that the burden of the undefeated streak is firmly lifted off their shoulders – and with a few creative drafts under their belt – I am excited to see how G2 will bounce back, especially in their much-anticipated rematch versus T1.

EG vs SGB: A Tale of Two Mids

Y’know, if Saigon Buffalos actually had a competent mid laner, they have a serious shot in a lot of these games against these MSI teams… Froggy has been the worst player of the Rumble Stage thus far, being the easy exploitable chain in an otherwise functional, exciting team. His laning is quite poor and he is quite susceptible to getting ganked, showing a general lack of awareness of enemy movement.

Contrary to the sorry state of the Vietnamese representative, Jojopyun has been quite outstanding, given he is a 17 year old North American rookie who has been playing League of Legends for approximately two years. The kid reminds me a lot of a younger, less polished Caps with his insistence of moving around the map to create plays, as well as his mechanical proficiency across a myriad of champion archetypes. With Carlos himself bantering the young gun back on Twitter, the asinine European fanboys seemed to have a better view of Jojo instead of sending the 17 year old death threats… I have no doubt in my mind that this tournament has been an exceptional learning experience for both the blossoming NA carries on Evil Geniuses and I cannot wait to see how they will use their new knowledge to tear up the LCS later this summer!
