New Marvel Game Coming From Uncharted, Star Wars Veteran Amy Hennig

A new Marvel game is coming from Skydance New Media, the gaming division of the media giant led by writer and director Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame.

Skydance New Media’s game will be a “narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure” title featuring an original story set in the Marvel universe.

Hennig said in a statement, “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery, and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience.”

Hennig added: “It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

Marvel Games boss Jay Ong said of Skydance New Media, “Their ambition and vision for making innovative entertainment using beloved Marvel IP was obvious from our first meeting. We’re excited to share more with Marvel fans when the time is right.”

Skydance New Media said it has put together an “accomplished” team of developers with “decades” of experience in the action and adventure genres. The game team will also work with creative consultants in the film, TV, and comics industries.

Skydance’s new Marvel game is not the only new Marvel game project in the works now, as Spider-Man developer Insomniac is making a new Wolverine game alongside Spider-Man 2.

This is not the first time that Hennig has worked on a gigantic media franchise, as she was working on an unannounced Star Wars game at EA before it all fell apart.

Hennig was the creative director and writer on Uncharted 1-3 at Naughty Dog. In 2014, it was reported that she was “forced out” of Naughty Dog before Uncharted 4, but Naughty Dog said that was not true.
