New Sly Cooper and Infamous Games Aren’t in Development, Sucker Punch Confirms

In what will be a sucker punch blow for fans of Sly Cooper and/or Infamous, developer Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that there are no plans to revisit either franchise. No other studio will be working on those games, either, so fans can forget about any spin-offs or remakes handled by a different developer.

No new Sly Cooper and Infamous games

In a blog post on its official website, Sucker Punch provided an update on its “legacy franchises,” saying how its current project requires “the full attention of [the] studio.” This means that the dev has “no plans to revisit Infamous or Sly Cooper right now.”

The blog post also mentioned how “no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.” This puts a nail in the coffin of the rumors of both Sly Cooper and Infamous games being in the works.

Sucker Punch hasn’t totally shot down the idea of these franchises being revisited in the future, however, saying how the characters in Sly Cooper and Infamous are “very special and near and dear to [its heart], so while [they’d] never say never to re-opening the doors down the road, for now there are no Infamous or Sly Cooper games in development.”

The developer concluded its blog post by stating that Infamous 2 UGC servers would soon be moved to a new home, so that they can be kept up and running for “a bit longer.” The team is also aiming to put the Cole’s Legacy DLC for Infamous Second Son on the PS Store for all regions, as this was previously only available as part of the Collector’s Edition.

As for the new Sucker Punch game that is in development, eager fans got no hints at all in this blog post, with the developer signing off with: “We’re not ready to talk about whatever might be next, but we hope you’ll keep following us whenever we’re ready to share more.”
