NHL Picks December 5: Vegas Versus Boston Headlines Action

The month of December is upon us and the NHL action continues to heat up. There are several significant games on the schedule for Monday, December 5 with the Bruins hosting the Golden Knights highlighting the play.

Vegas Golden Knights versus Boston Bruins

I like Edmonton to even the score in this one.

Montreal has won four of their last six and Vancouver is 3-3 over the same span. The Canadiens are “average up” and +10 on the Power Ranks Indicator versus “average down” and +11 for Vancouver. The Score Predictor has Montreal by a 3-2 margin with only 21 percent confidence. The teams have been involved in games on opposite sides of the “over/under” line, so pass on that bet. Both teams are moderately stable, at +1 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. I like the Canadiens in a road upset, perhaps needing overtime to do so.

Arizona Coyotes versus Calgary Flames

Arizona has lost five of their last six games and come in “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +2 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Calgary is 2-4 over the last six and are “ice cold down” and +16, respectively. The teams have combined in games “over” the line in seven of the last 12. The Score Predictor likes Calgary by a 4-2 score with 76 percent confidence. Be aware that Arizona is extremely stable, at +9 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Calgary won all three games last season and I like them in this one by two goals in a game “over” the line.
