Nigma Galaxy win ESL Impact League Season 2 Finals

Nigma Galaxy have claimed the ESL Impact League trophy in Jönköping, Sweden, becoming two-time champions after first lifting the trophy at the Season 1 Finals in Dallas, Texas, and now adding to that with the Season 2 Finals silverware following a 2-0 victory over FURIA fe.

The Brazilian team fall just short of claiming a title for themselves for the third time this year, with Nigma Galaxy previously beating them in the grand final of the Season 1 Finals, and also at ESL Impact Valencia in July.

ANa topped the board for Nigma Galaxy, averaging a 1.37 rating

Both sides had little trouble in making it to the title-deciding match, easing past HSG fe and NOFEAR5 in their respective semi-final games with 2-0 victories.

FURIA fe struggled to get going in the grand final, their rivals from Nigma Galaxy getting off to a blistering start on the CT side of Mirage with a lockout 12-3 defensive showing. That map was quickly sealed away by Ana “ANa” Dumbravă and company, moving the series on to Ancient.

There, Nigma Galaxy maintained their momentum and put up a dominant T side showing at the onset of the map, winning ten of the first twelve rounds for a stellar 10-2 lead. FURIA fe stabilized at the end of the half to get three last rounds, and built upon that after the side swap with a strong attack of their own, briefly gaining the lead at 14-12.

A third map wasn’t to be though as Nigma Galaxy finally found the solution to shutting down the Brazilian offensive, putting a halt to bombsite attacks to clinch the last four rounds of the map and edge out a 16-14 victory to take home the trophy.
