Nikola Jovic 2022 NBA Draft Profile

The 2022 NBA Draft will be an important event for teams to build for their future. Here is the Nikola Jovic 2022 NBA Draft Profile.

Nikola Jovic Background

Position: Forward

Size: 6-foot-10, 205 pounds

Class: N/A

Country: Serbia

2021-22 stats: 11.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.3 steals, 0.5 blocks per game, 55.2% FG, 40% 3FG, 75% FT

Jovic is young and has only been playing professional basketball for a short period of time. He is nonetheless a part of the 2022 NBA Draft class.

Early in his career, Jovic has received experience on the Serbian National Team. He just recently got the call up to the Senior Serbian National Team in February of 2022. His professional career started with Mega Basket in the ABA League during the 2021 season. He averaged 11.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

Following one season of professional basketball, Jovic is preparing for the 2022 NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid to late first round pick.

Nikola Jovic Strengths

Jovic might be 6-foot-10, but he handles the ball like a guard. He can do dribble moves fairly well and can get to the basket at a decent level. His height makes it so that he can overpower smaller defenders when getting to the basket, but his ball-handling allows him to get past bigger players trying to defend him.

His shooting is also very good for a young player of his height. He shot 55 percent from the floor and 40 percent from deep for Mega Basket. His range extends to the NBA 3-point line and he can shoot off the dribble or catch. On top of his shooting from the floor, he hits 75 percent of his free throws.

He has a high basketball IQ, as he reads the floor well. Jovic can create for himself or teammates. He is a good passer that can set the table, but is also great at making the extra pass for a more wide open shot. Jovic processes things quickly, making things happen in the halfcourt or on the fast break.

Nikola Jovic Weaknesses

Jovic doesn’t have elite athleticism or a quick first step. He handles the ball well, but may struggle to get around NBA defenders. This lack of quickness and athleticism could really impact him on the defensive end of the floor as he tries to stay in front of his man.

He will need to add some weight to hold up in the NBA. Jovic weighs just 205 pounds at 6-foot-10 as his body is still filling out. Other players of his height way more than 50 pounds heavier, so he’ll need to play down a position or add weight to match up with the bigger players.

While his shooting is solid, he needs to work on his finishing at the rim. He isn’t the most physical player and can get outmuscled at the rim. He needs to add weight, but also start going up strong and converting more on the inside to be more of a three-level scoring threat.

Projected Draft Range: Mid to Late First Round Pick
