NIP Impact end Nigma Galaxy’s 38-series win streak

Nigma Galaxy‘s undefeated run on the women’s circuit is over. In their second match of ESL Impact Season 3 Europe, Ksenia “vilga” Kluenkova‘s squad suffered a narrow loss to NIP Impact, which brought an end to their 38-series winning streak.

Nigma Galaxy‘s run dates back to early 2022, when they brought in Katarína “Kat” Vašková as a replacement for Kelly “KllyVe” Verhaegen. Following the move, the team won everything there was to win on the women’s scene, including several ESEA Cash Cups, the previous two Impact League seasons, ESL Impact Valencia, the GIRLGAMER Esports Festival, and ESL Impact Katowice last month.

Four-time ESL Impact champions Nigma Galaxy get their first taste of defeat

Despite their success in Katowice, the team has looked beatable in series earlier this year. They had a close call in Poland when they faced off against their perennial 2022 rivals FURIA fe in the semi-finals and narrowly beat them after overtime on the deciding map, before NAVI Javelins took them to overtime as well in the grand final.

Less than a month after the tournament in Poland, the two-time Impact League champions have begun their campaign in the third season of the league, whose regional portion is taking place online. After beating MVP in the first round, Nigma Galaxy faced off against NIP Impact in the second and were brought to their knees after two close affairs, losing Mirage 14-16 and Vertigo 17-19 after overtime.

The blood is now in the water and others will be frothing to test their might against the women’s team of the year 2022. Nigma Galaxy are still to face BIG EQUIPA, Astralis fe, and Aces in Group A, from which only the top team will make it to the seasonal finals in Dallas and the second-placed team will fight in a third-place decider for the last spot.
