Supermassive Games, the developers behind the movie-esque horror games Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology and the recently released The Quarry, is now owned by Nordisk Games.

Nordisk Games, based in Copenhagen, Denmark, previously owned 30.7% stake in Supermassive, but now has taken 100% ownership.

This will see Supermassive joining Avalanche Studios Group (Just Cause series), Star Stable Entertainment, Flashbulb Games, Nitro Games, and MercurySteam (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid: Samus Returns).

Supermassive Games was founded in 2008 by Pete Samuels and Joe Samuels and are based in Guildford, UK. The development team employs more than 300 developers.

“It’s been a little over a year since Nordisk Games made an initial investment in Supermassive Games and our vision for the future. During that time, we have found that we share a lot of important values with Mikkel [Mikkel Weider, CEO of Nordisk Games] and his team, and we believe these values to be equally important to our existing commercial partners who we will continue to support,” said Pete Samuels, CEO of Supermassive Games.

“Having had such a positive experience over the past year it wasn’t a difficult decision when Nordisk Games wanted to explore increasing their investment. We have an exciting and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive Games and Nordisk Games ownership only enhances that. I’m hugely excited about where the security offered by this partnership, and continued access to the expertise within Nordisk Games, will take us next.”

All of Supermassive Games’ titles have been published by different publishers. Sony published Until Dawn, Bandai Namco handles the four games under the Dark Pictures Anthology and more recently The Quarry was published by 2K.
