  • Betting lines are even more overwhelming in favor of Aaron Rodgers coming back for the 2022 NFL camapign
  • Should Rodgers leave Green Bay, the Denver Broncos are favored to be his new club

When it comes to retirement talk, Tom Brady is taking the popular sporting approach. He’s listing the status of his future in the NFL as day to day.

As much as there’s a constituency of people that might love the thought of anti-vaxxer Aaron Rodgers just going away, that probably isn’t going to happen.

We have odds on the chances of both veteran NFL quarterbacks opting to hang up their cleats and retire from the game. Betting lines are backing both Brady and Rodgers to be back for the 2022 season.

Brady is listed at -1000 to be back next season. Meanwhile, the odds are an overwhelming -3500 the Rodgers will strap on his helmet again in 2022.

Just where will Rodgers be playing next season if the Green Bay Packers and him opt to part ways? Well, there’s odds on that as well. The Denver Broncos are the +275 chalk.

Interestingly, Rodgers and Brady are 1-2 in the betting line in the NFL MVP odds. Twice, players have announced their retirement after winning the MVP – Philadelphia Eagles QB Norm Van Brocklin in 1960 and Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown in 1965.

Brady Indecisive About Future

Following Tampa Bay’s 30-27 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL Divisional Round playoffs, Brady was revealing little about his future plans. However, in the week leading up to the game, he at least was entertaining thoughts about his NFL future.

He did admit that his family would be part of the ultimate decision as to whether Brady will keep playing. As well, he acknowledges that his wife Gisele Bundchen doesn’t enjoy watching him get hit on game day.

Even though at 44 he’s the NFL’s oldest player, it’s difficult to argue that Brady has lost much off his game. His 2021 stat line is certainly impressive and worthy of the MVP consideration he’s getting.

This season, he led the NFL in passing TDs (43), passing yardage (5,316) and completions (485). Doesn’t sound like a guy who needs to be giving up the game.

Pick: No (-1000)

Packers Want Rodgers Back

A year ago at this time, it was appearing that Rodgers and the Packers were heading toward an ugly divorce. This time around, there’s reconciliation in the air.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur indicated that there’s not even a debate among anyone working in the team’s football operations. All are in lockstep that they want Rodgers back in in Wisconsin for 2022.

LaFleur and Rodgers met Monday to discuss the QB’s future in Green Bay. Rodgers passed for 4,115 yards and 37 TDs in leading the Pack to an NFC North title and the NFC’s #1 seed.

Rodgers has indicated that he’ll make his decision known before the March 16 opening of NFL free agency. While he’s hinted in the past about leaving Green Bay, he’s never mentioned leaving the game.

Pick: No -3500

Aaron Isn’t Interested In Rebuilding

If the Packers are planning to enter into a rebuild, then the message from Rodgers is a simple one – get me out of here. He’s adamant that at 38, he’ll have no part in building from the ground floor up.

If that’s Green Bay’s direction, then he’ll be taking his talents elsewhere. And it will be to a team he believes is set to contend for a Super Bowl title.

Odds On Aaron Rodgers’ 2022 NFL Team (If Not Packers)

Team Odds
Denver Broncos +275
Pittsburgh Steelers +425
Denver Broncos +275
Pittsburgh Steelers +425
Miami Dolphins +650
Philadelphia Eagles +800
Cleveland Browns +1025
New York Jets +1100
Las Vegas Raiders +1300
Tennessee Titans +1475
Carolina Panthers +1600
New Orleans Saints +1850
New York Giants +1850
Seattle Seahawks +1900
Baltimore Ravens +2475

Looking at the list of prospective suitors for Rodgers’ services, there’s not many fits that figure to fill his order. Pittsburgh prefers to develop its own QBs. The Steelers don’t go for hired guns.

If Rodgers is intent on leaving Green Bay, Denver remains his most likely landing spot, a team with a solid defense, but in need of consistent quarterback play.

Pick: Denver Broncos (+275)
