OSU-MSU Pivotal Big Ten Game

Michigan State bounced back from its first loss of the season to beat Maryland 40-21 at home on Saturday.

Payton Thorne threw two of his four touchdown passes to Jayden Reed. Kenneth Walker III ran for 143 yards and two scores.

C.J. Stroud threw for 361 yards and five touchdowns to led Ohio State to a 59-31 victory over visiting Purdue. Freshman TreVeyon Henderson rushed for two scores.

Garrett Wilson, who was unavailable last week for unspecified reasons, had 10 catches for 126 yards and three touchdowns. Jaxson Smith-Njigba had nine catches for 139 yards and a TD.

Ohio State is playing well but look for Michigan State to try to control the clock with Walker, which should make it a reasonably close game.

Dukes-Utes Pac-12 Championship Preview?

Oregon downed Washington State 38-24 at home on Saturday as Anthony Brown Jr. threw for 135 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 123 yards and another score.

Travis Dye ran for 88 yards and a score for the Ducks, who won their fifth straight game, and had 25 yards receiving and another TD.

Utah won its third straight game but struggled to beat lowly Arizona 38-29 on the road as Cameron Rising threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns and T.J. Pledger ran for 119 yards and two TDs.

Up just 31-29, Utah finally closed the game with a 15-play, 75-yard drive that lasted more than eight minutes. It was capped by Pledger’s 2-yard touchdown run with 2:10 left.

Utah certainly looked a team that was peeking ahead to Oregon on Saturday. However, Rising and Pledger give Utes the kind of offensive firepower needed to take down the Ducks.

The Pick: Utah -2.5 (-110)

Out of Line?

UCF is favored by 30.5 points at home over Connecticut and TCU is a 21.5-point choice over visiting Kansas on Saturday. Both lines are certainly substantial but also seem a little light.

UConn is bad, like really bad. Kansas isn’t as good as its 58-57 overtime stunner at Texas on Saturday indicates and TCU is better than its 63-17 blowout loss at Oklahoma State.

The sharps realize UConn is a team to fade and TCU is undervalued. So, look for both lines to trend upward this week.
