Just yesterday, we learned Stranger Things star David Harbour would become the first actor to sign on for the Gran Turismo movie. Hot of the heels of that announcement, The Hollywood Reporter is back with another scoop on this film based on the racing series. Orlando Bloom is set to join Harbour on the project.
Widely known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean, among others, the actor will play the part of “a hungry marketing exec who is selling the sport of motor racing … and just may believe in its art, too”. We’re not completely clear on what that means, either.
Yes, PlayStation Productions is making a film based on Sony’s flagship racing game. It’s based on the true story of a teenage Gran Turismo player who fulfils his dream of becoming an actual race car driver by competing in in-game competitions.
This role will be played by Archie Madekwe. You may recognise the young actor from Midsommar, See, and Voyagers.
