Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley helms horror game The Devil In Me

Jessie Buckley has been confirmed as the lead star in Supermassive’s upcoming horror game, The Devil In Me.

Part of The Dark Pictures Anthology, this is fourth game created in collaboration with publisher Bandai Namco. Buckley, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress (The Lost Daughter) in this year’s Academy Awards, will be pit against a sadistic serial killer when The Devil In Me launches later this year.

This gruesome finale in Supermassive’s first volume of standalone horror shorts steers away from the supernatural for something a little more SAW-like. In the upcoming sequel’s reveal trailer we see how its main antagonist turns his victims into macabre puppets. Jessie Buckley’s Kate Wilder will no doubt attempt to thwart the killer, presumably alongside a supporting cast of characters.

Last year, we saw the third entry in Supermassive’s The Dark Pictures Anthology with House of Ashes. In our review we scored the latest chapter an 8/10, saying:

House of Ashes adds little to the Dark Pictures formula, and doesn’t seem to progress anthology’s overarching plot. That said, it’s still a great adventure with some jaw dropping visuals and action-packed set pieces. A solid addition to the franchise.

Not content with just having one horror game in the pipeline, Supermassive and 2K Games recently announced The Quarry. The setup for this slasher-inspired title will be familiar to any horror fans out there as nine camp counsellors plan to throw a party, spending one final night at Hackett’s Quarry. Of course, there are bound to be uninvited guests…

The Quarry has carved out a release date for June 10, 2022, and will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A deluxe edition of the game will be up for preorder, unlocking visual filters, character outfits, and a Death Rewind feature.
