Overwatch 2 – Ramattra’s Ultimate Doesn’t End if at Least One Enemy is Alive

Ramattra is the talk of Overwatch 2 today, with his first gameplay trailer revealed and abilities detailed. However, there’s more to know about the Null Sector leader. In a new blog post, lead balance designer Josh Noh and associate game designer Tess Leiman offer some interesting details on his kit and abilities.

For instance, Void Accelerator, Ramattra’s staff, fires a stream of projectiles, and these have travel speed. However, not only is there no damage falloff, but it can do “quite a bit of damage – especially if you’re hitting crits.”

Pummel, his attack in Nemesis form (which lasts eight seconds), fires an energy wave forward in each swing. It can also pierce, damaging all enemies within that line. It also goes through barriers, so characters like current top-tier picks like Zarya, Winston and D.Va aren’t safe.

For tanking damage, Ramattra has a block. Unlike, say, Doomfist’s Power Block, it has no cooldown. It slows you down, and you can’t punch when blocking. Ravenous Vortex is available in both forms, creating a damaging field that slows enemies and grounds them. Interestingly, it can bounce off walls, enemies and roofs – it only needs to hit the floor to activate.

As for his Ultimate, Annihilation, it sends nanobots that damage nearby enemies and reduce their damage by 50 percent. Like Zenyatta’s Transcendence, it’s visible as a ring. But perhaps the craziest part of the Ultimate is that it doesn’t end. “If the beam is attached to an enemy, it pauses the duration of the Ultimate. The Ultimate itself is relatively short, but if it’s attached to someone, it’s not ending,” says Leiman. So theoretically, he can keep Nemesis form (which activates immediately on using Annihilation) going indefinitely alongside the Ultimate as long as there are enemies nearby and he doesn’t die.

Overall, Ramattra sounds like a blast to play, though how strong or weak he’ll be is unknown. He’s available in Season 2, which goes live on December 6th. Stay tuned for more details on the other content later today.
