Overwatch 2 survey suggests Blizzard is considering charging up to $45 for premium skins

It looks like Blizzard might price Overwatch 2 skins at a very high premium. Initially reported by PCGamesN, users who took part in a survey for Overwatch 2 had to answer questions asking if they’re willing to pay $45 USD for a mythic skin (the highest premium), $25 USD for a legendary skin, and $30 USD for a legendary bundle. With Blizzard’s current track record, some are wondering if Overwatch 2 will be consumer-friendly and not a money sink with infrequent updates. However, it’s important to note that these aren’t set prices. Surveys often contain multiple different premiums.

Many changes are coming to Overwatch 2 from the prior iteration, though, the largest of which is the transition to a free-to-play model. Alongside this change is the complete removal of loot boxes from the game.

Blizzard backlash yet again…

Even without the concerns from the Overwatch 2 survey, Blizzard has dealt with its fair share of criticism. After a rough showing at BlizzCon marred its reputation and details of an awful work culture surfaced, many have boycotted the company all-together. Blizzard is facing an uphill battle with regaining the trust of it’s user-base. While the pricing model is currently unknown, these potential prices don’t raise hopes that the company will make a rebound with Overwatch 2.

As reported by PCGN, a spokesperson for Blizzard did comment on the survey and potential premiums, saying: “This survey is entirely intended to better understand player prefernces for the different types of Overwatch 2 cosmetics. Prices displayed in the survey are random per user and are not indicative of final pricing.”

They go on to clarify that more details will come as we get closer to Overwatch 2‘s October 4 launch.
