Park ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk Leads GEN To Victory Against T1

GEN has extended their winning streak to seven games after breezing past the undisputed champion, T, in today’s frenetic series; all without dropping a single game. They now moved into solo possession until two weeks left to the end of the regular season.

GEN had previously struggled in taking down T1, but this time the perennial Korean team broke the devil’s leg led by their superstar, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk. He showed off a superior performance in both matches, leaving his mark on the series with one of his signature picks, Lucian. With a dominant fashion against the defending champion, Ruler proved that he is still the best carry player in the league even though his bot lane partner has changed ahead of the summer season.

The much-awaited series between the two top teams started with GEN trying to find skirmishes around bot lane with the hope of utilizing Lucian’s early game strength against Aphelios. It was clear that GEN would take control of all lanes thanks to Akali, Sylas, and Lucian.

T1 Imitated GEN In The Pick-Ban Phase, But It Didn’t Work

However, T1 were able to find a way out of their disadvantageous position with the help of Mun ‘Oner’ Hyeon-jun. He held a decent lead against Han ‘Peanut’ Wang-ho, giving his team a chance to survive until the late phase. Meanwhile, GEN picked up neutral objectives to prevent T1 from reaching their power spikes earlier than expected, conveying resources to Ruler to allow him to win teamfights. All GEN had to do was play around Lucian, and their classic early-mid game composition worked well enough to secure the slow-paced game.

Bot lane duos were swapped on the second match, with T1 relying on the synergy between Lucian and Nami. However, another macro game problem occurred on the top side of the map. T1 were not able to win 2vs2 skirmishes, leaving the control of the river to their rivals. Even though it was GEN who had to take slow in the early stage, that did not stop Ruler from getting pentakill in the river fight, making himself unstoppable towards the mid-phase. From there on, GEN wasted no time ending the game, capturing the top spot after weeks of intense effort.

Week 7 of the 2022 LCK Summer Split will be completed with two series between bottom-of-the-pack teams. Kwangdong Freecs will take on Hanwha Life Esports, while Nongshim RedForce will play against Fredit BRION, who have already anchored in last place due to their abysmal performance throughout the season. You can watch the remaining matches on the official LCK Twitch channel.
