PGL Major Stockholm: ENCE, Entropiq and Virtus.pro go straight to Legends after Day 3

Renegades, paIN Gaming and TYLOO are out of the Majors after losing to their opponents in their matches

The competition continues, as the next three teams to be seeded to the New Legends stage were decided through some of the most gruelling and exciting CS:GO matches we have seen so far in the tournament. Unfortunately, three other teams had to say goodbye to the Major as they were disqualified based on their points standings.

Round 4 Recap

High Matches

Virtus.pro vs Team Spirit

The first of the three high matches saw Virtus.pro meeting up with Team Spirit. The two teams battled to see who can be the one that advances to the next stage. VP came out of the gate taking control of the first map, Inferno. While Team Spirit did manage to grab wins, but by the time the second half of the match came around, VP was dominating, not letting Spirit grab a win at all. Team Spirit reciprocated with their dominance in the second map, Ancient.

It looks like the two teams were evenly matched up that the third map, Overpass, saw a time extension. VP took advantage of that extension and cleared a path for them by winning all four rounds – making them the victor.

Virtus.pro won 2-1.

Heroic vs Entropiq

The almost fairy-tale run of first-timer Entropiq continues with their match against Heroic. In the first round, Heroic was all guns blazing as they took the first point. But Entropiq rose in the second round as they took the point, with several clutches along the way. The win by the Czech team seemed to reduce the morale of Heroic and gave the win to Entropiq for them to grab the second point and the game.

Entropiq won 2-1.

BIG vs ENCE

The BIG vs ENCE match was a mix of clutches and the usual gameplay between these two teams. The first match on Dust2 saw ENCE dominate the first half but BIG turned around their luck when they grabbed win after win as CT. It is on the second map, Mirage, where ENCE sustained their winning momentum as they won the map easily.

In the third map, Nuke, BIG gave a valiant effort to give ENCE some competition, but the latter already established their momentum and cruised to an easy win to the next stage.

ENCE won 2-1

With the wins, Virtus.pro, Entropiq and ENCE qualified to the next stage of the Major – New Legends.

Low Matches

Movistar Riders vs TyLoo

The first of the Low matches saw Movistar Riders going against TYLOO. In the first map, the two teams were evenly matched as there was only one match deficit between them but in the end, the Riders won the match. In the second map, TYLOO took over the match and won most of the rounds and grabbed the second map point.

The third round was where the two truly battled it out. Vertigo was played pretty evenly, leading to a 15-15 score at the end of the map. The extended time saw Movistar Riders win 4 rounds versus the single win by TYLOO, thus giving them the overall win.

Movistar Riders won 2-1.

MOUZ vs Renegades

The battle between the European team and the Australian team started in a good way for the lads from down under. They took control of the game after the second half as CT, with wins after wins until the 30th round. Unfortunately, their momentum seemed to wane in the second round, and MOUZ took advantage of the waning feeling and dominated the second and third rounds.

MOUZ won 2-1.

Astralis vs paiN Gaming

Astralis meanwhile continue their comeback with their match against paIN Gaming. They were strong in both halves of the first map. It is in the second map that paIN Gaming gave them a scare as both teams collected 15 wins each, forcing them into extended time. Even so, Astralis kept their cool and easily won 4 out of the 5 extended rounds, giving them the overall win.

Astralis won 2-0.

With the end of the low rounds, TYLOO and paIN Gaming unfortunately were disqualified from Major Stockholm.

Round 5 will see:

  • Heroic versus Movistar Riders
  • BIG versus MOUZ
  • Team Spirit versus Astralis

to see who will be the last three teams moving on to New Legends.
