Philadelphia Eagles Legends Spotlight: Malcolm Jenkins

The Philadelphia Eagles Legends Spotlight is back! In this edition, we will be looking at former Philadelphia Eagles free safety Malcolm Jenkins. He was with the Eagles from 2014 to 2019 with some of the best years of his career coming in Philly. Here’s a look through the career of Malcom Jenkins.

About Malcolm Jenkins

Jenkins is a very durable football player. He took an incredible 2,651 consecutive snaps before the pandemic began. In addition, Jenkins was one of the more intelligent football players in the NFL. He can play many positions, but he is mostly known for being a safety. He provided teams with a lot including tackling, turnovers, and he could rush the quarterback. Jenkins has won many awards throughout his career, mostly being with the Eagles. He had three pro bowl seasons that include 2015, 2017 and 2018. In addition, he made the NFL Top 100 in 2017 and 2018. Jenkins was a top-tier defensive player for most of his career and could possibly make the NFL Hall of Fame and the Eagles Hall of Fame.

Jenkins Career with the Eagles.

Malcolm Jenkins started his career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. This was after spending five seasons with the New Orleans Saints.  During his first season with the Eagles, Jenkins made a statement right away. He had 80 total tackles, three interceptions with one being for a touchdown and 15 passes defended. The next year in 2015, Jenkins had his first pro bowl season. He accumulated 109 total tackles and two interceptions with one being for a touchdown. He had the longest interception return of the year that season, which was a 99-yard pick-six. Fast forward to 2017, Jenkins had another big year totaling 76 total tackles, one sack, two interceptions and eight passes defended.

Jenkins as mentioned earlier played his final season with the Eagles in 2019 and he was still as productive as ever. Jenkins racked up 81 total tackles, eight passes defended, two and a half sacks and four forced fumbles. He was a force for the Eagles just about every year he was a part of the team.

Where is Jenkins now?

Jenkins played two more years with the Saints before announcing his retirement on March 30 this year. He played a total of 13 seasons in the NFL.  During his career outside of the NFL, Jenkins was also a big leader in the social justice movement. He founded the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation. His foundation promotes positive change for children in communities that do not have a lot of resources. He serves communities in New Jersey, Louisiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In conclusion, Malcolm Jenkins had a legendary career with the Philadelphia Eagles and in the NFL in general and he has also helped people in the process. He is one of the NFL’s great defensive backs.
