Pittsburgh Knights transfers LATAM Halo team to Spacestation Gaming

Spacestation Gaming is an esports organization from Utah that is most widely known for its exploits in Rainbow Six Siege esports, and recently has made a big move by acquiring the services of the Pittsburgh Knights roster from the LATAM region for its Halo esports team.

This means that Spacestation Gaming will essentially have to get rid of its North American lineup after multiple roster changes in recent months. This acquisition should settle things down for the team from Utah as Pittsburgh Knights have been one of the most dominant sides in the Halo esports scene for the last few years.

Pittsburgh Knights’ line-up, which includes the likes of Atzin “Atzo” Mayen, Irving “Drift” Ramírez, Josbe “Tapping Buttons” Valadez, and John “Pelu” Montoya has not suffered a defeat in regional online competition and recently won the Halo Championship Series Mexico Regional Championship.

Spacestation Gaming will be adding some real top talent to their roster now, which also includes former Timbers Esports coach Carlos “Nugget” Marlasca. Fans can see this new line-up in action later this month at the Orlando Major. It should be the perfect tournament to get used to their new surroundings before the 2022 World Championship.

Following the acquisition, Pittsburgh Knights had this to say on their Twitter account:

“Today we say farewell and exit Halo as we have transferred our team to Spacestation. It has been our honor to have been the home of @sTwDrift, @AtzoPM, @TappingButtons, @PeluGod, @iRcLoad for almost 2 years and we look forward to them continuing their dominance of @HCS in LATAM.”

There will be a lot of outgoings, as is expected when a deal like this takes place. Ace, Tylenul, Kuhlect, and Suppressed are restricted free agents after being released from Spacestation. It’ll come as a disappointment to these players, who joined the team with big hopes and expectations but a top-12 finish in the HCS Open Series suggested that there was still a long way to go for these players to realize their potential as a team and Spacestation Gaming could not wait any longer. There’s no news on where they’ll end up.

Spacestation Gaming have really made a statement and will be hoping to repeat the sort of success they’ve had in Rainbow Six Siege (won the world championship in 2020) with Halo. There are still some question marks over the pedigree of the new members on the international stage.

The members who formerly represented the Pittsburgh Knights finished in the top 16 in the Kansas City Major in May, which isn’t good enough by their high standards. There’s a lot for the new members of Spacestation Gaming to prove as well, which makes this a great match.

The aim for Spacestation Gaming will be to become a top team in their region and show their mettle in the Majors and for its new members to surpass the achievements during their time with Pittsburgh Knights. There’s every reason to believe that the ambitions of the two parties can be realized with this collaboration and it’s time for everyone involved to display it.Both Pittsburgh Knights and Spacestation Gaming are huge esports organizations and are involved in many esports titles.
