What was previously known as the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL)  has since become the PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL), which kicks off on March 22, 2023. With Tencent running a new partnership system, 15 of the teams involved will be directly invited, having secured their slots through their deal with the company. These 15 teams are split among some of the best PUBG Mobile playing regions, with Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and The Philippines all involved. The partnered teams are as follows:

Indonesia

  • Alter Ego
  • Persija EVOS
  • RRQ Esports
  • Bigetron Esports
  • Boom Esports

Vietnam

  • BOX Gaming
  • D’Xavier

Philippines

  • Playbook Esports

Thailand

  • FaZe Clan
  • Bacon Time
  • Vampire Esports

Malaysia

  • SEM9
  • Team Secret
  • Geek Slate
  • Yoodoo Alliance

These slots, according to Tencent, have only been secured for a one-year period, meaning that teams will be required to keep up their performances, as well as continue to remain partnered with Tencent to retain their guaranteed slot in future events. With that said, the five remaining spots have all been acquired via qualifiers – with teams from each region each finding their way through, including one Wildcard.

For this season, the organisers have confirmed that PMSL Spring 2023 will be a LAN event, although the venue has not yet been announced. However, what we do know is that the season will be split into a Regular Season, from March 22 through to April 12, followed by a three-day Finals weekend from April 14 to 16. For the Regular Season, the 20 teams will be split into groups, where a round-robin format will commence, with four teams being eliminated prior to the Finals weekend. It will be interesting to see these SEA teams go up against one another and just which maps they decide to utilise to get their “Chicken Dinner” at the PMSL SEA Spring 2023.
