The next Pokémon GO season has been announced, and it’s called Season of Heritage.

Pokémon GO’s next season has been teased on the official Pokémon GO Twitter page and, judging from its themes, it seems to be related to the upcoming release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

A short, 19-second clip was posted to the Twitter page and, while not much is revealed, the stylized artwork seems to point in the direction of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The upcoming game is set to be a fresh take on the Pokémon franchise, set in an ancient version of Sinnoh – the Hisui region.

“In the next Pokémon GO Season, we’ll look to the past for answers that will help guide us into the future of Pokémon GO,” the post read.

The crossover would certainly make a lot of sense, and wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a tie-in with main series games. Recently, an event which celebrated the release of Gen IV remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl took place in Pokémon GO. The event, which was split into two to dedicate time for each title, featured wild Pokémon encounters and egg group additions amongst other features.

Given the planned additions of some Hisuian-form Pokémon in the upcoming game, there’s a good chance we’ll see some of these Pokémon head to the mobile game during the next season.

With the new season set to launch soon, it’s likely we can expect some more information to be revealed later this week. Until then, the community will be rife with speculation
